In the field of plastic modification, PP masterbatch is often used as an auxiliary material to optimize the performance of PP products and control raw material costs. Among them, the barium content is one of the core indicators affecting the application effect of masterbatch. This article will focus on the 82% high barium content PP masterbatch and objectively analyze its application value from two aspects: core features and practical application scenarios.
I.The core feature of an 82% high barium content
The barium content of common PP masterbatch is usually in the range of 60% to 75%. The 82% high barium content version, through purification and process adjustment, has a higher proportion of effective functional components, mainly demonstrating three characteristics:
1. Performance aspect: Enhance rigidity and heat resistance
When added to PP raw materials, a higher barium content helps enhance the rigidity and impact resistance of the products. Take the shells of household appliances as an example. The PP products made with 82% masterbatch have a drop resistance that is more than 15% higher than those with a low barium content (about 70%). Meanwhile, the heat resistance temperature of the product can be increased by 5-8℃, making it suitable for more scenarios that require medium and high-temperature processing or usage.
2. Cost aspect: Reduce raw material consumption
When achieving the same filling effect, the addition ratio of 82% barium content masterbatch is lower than that of the low barium content version. Take the production of 1 ton of PP turnover boxes as an example. The addition amount of 82% barium masterbatch is approximately 200kg, while the addition amount of 70% barium masterbatch is 220kg. This can reduce the use of 20kg of pure PP raw materials and lower the unit raw material cost during mass production.
3. Appearance aspect: Optimize the uniformity of dispersion
The barium component of the 82% barium content masterbatch has a relatively high purity, with sufficient particle refinement and good compatibility with PP resin. During the processing, it is less likely to have “small white spots” caused by uneven dispersion. The surface flatness and smoothness of the formed products are better, which can meet the production requirements of products with certain appearance demands.
Ii. Typical Application Scenarios of 82% PP barium Masterbatch
Based on the above characteristics, 82% of PP masterbatches have clear applications in multiple fields, mainly suitable for scenarios that have comprehensive requirements for performance, cost and appearance:
1. Home appliance field
It is used for components such as the inner drum of washing machines, air conditioner panels, and the outer shell of rice cookers. It can enhance the impact resistance and heat resistance of components, while meeting the environmental protection requirements of materials in the home appliance industry (such as complying with the ROHS standard), and is suitable for the long-term usage needs of home appliances.

2. Automotive interior field
It is applied to the PP components under car door panels and instrument panels. It can provide certain rigid support for components. Meanwhile, compared with glass fiber reinforced PP materials, it has a cost advantage and causes less wear and tear on equipment and molds during processing.

3. Packaging field
It is applicable to food-grade turnover boxes, logistics pallets and other products. After addition, it can enhance the load-bearing capacity and shock resistance of the turnover box, extend the service life of the product, and reduce the replacement cost of turnover consumables for enterprises.

4. Building materials field
It is used for building materials products such as PP drainage pipes and ceiling panels. It can enhance the weather resistance of the products and reduce aging and deformation caused by long-term exposure to outdoor environments. At the same time, it enhances the pressure resistance of the pipe material and reduces the probability of cracking during installation or use.
